The Orc with the Heart Tattoo

So in the dragon tattoo book, I am reading, the main character (a chap called Blomkvist who, confusingly, is neither a girl nor does he have any ink on his skin) has just been to see Lord of the Rings at the cinema.

It's unclear if this is relevant, to the overall storyline, but his reaction to the film is to think how much simpler life must be if you're an Orc. It's a weird observation (somewhat out of place in the novel) and, to be frank, contrary to my thoughts on life as the stereotypical embodiment of evil.

The thing is, what if you were an Orc? You'd soon find yourself being typecast as the bad guy.
Before you know it you've been enlisted into Sauron's army and you find yourself on the Pelennor Fields, with Aragorn bearing down on you with a large sword and an army of the undead.
Is that fair?
What if you'd only joined up to see the world; with the hope of meeting a nice lady Orc in a sailor's bar on the coast of Rhûn?

All that poetry you'd written, and amusing blog posts, would count for nothing as your head was hewn from your body by some dude who thinks he should be king.

It doesn't even stop there. You'd be sitting there in the afterlife (or where ever Orcses go when their time is up) having to see yourself portrayed in endless books, movies and games as one of the guys who started it.

History is written by the winners.
No one remembers the time you sat there, in the fire light, on the banks of the Anduin - and you turned to your commander and said "if only they knew the real me".

I need to go to bed. I think I may have read too much today.

The Orc is looking very horror in the design, specially the eyes. The design from nose to head doesn’t make Mr. Orc more beautiful.
